Corns and Callus

Callus can build up in areas of the foot that are subject to high pressure or sheering forces. Too much callus can cause pain, increase risk of the development of corns and foot ulcerations which can lead to infections.

Careful removal of this callus (debridement) and corns (enucleation), can relieve pain and reduce the risk of complications.Reducing the pressure in these areas can ease the pain and reduce future problems. Orthotics (special insoles that go inside shoes) may be recommended for this purpose.
