Plantar Fasciitis

Symptoms of this normally include intense pain with your first step as you get out of bed in the morning which gradually eases over the first 10 minutes of use. Pain following any periods of rest and after a long day of standing or walking is also common.

The plantar fascia is a tight band of fascia that connects your heel to the base of your toes. The plantar fascia takes the full load of your body when standing. If your foot is not functioning properly it can cause increased load through the fascia. Orthotics (special insoles) may be provided to help treat this problem. Acupuncture may also help by providing pain relief and encouraging healing. Footwear advice and stretching exercises will be provided by the podiatrists as indicated.
